What are the consequences of conveyor belt damage?

Mar 14, 2023

1. The conveyor belt becomes thinner, which is not easy to take. Make its thickness thinner. When the two ends are overlapped, the thickness of the joint is different. During operation, the joint position and the idler will have a strong scrape, which will not only wear the idler, but also shorten the life of the joint, especially the new belt and the idler. Older belt laps are more raised. For conveyor belts connected by vulcanization, lap splicing is more difficult because of the difference in thickness.
2. The strength of the conveyor belt decreases. The high temperature resistant conveyor belt is made of multi-layer rubber cotton canvas (polyester cotton cloth) or polyester canvas covered with high temperature resistant or heat resistant rubber, bonded together by high temperature vulcanization, suitable for conveying hot coke, cement, slag and hot casting etc. The damage of the conveyor belt reaches a certain level, especially when the cover layer is damaged and reaches the core layer, which directly affects the tensile strength of the conveyor belt and reduces its strength. When the steel cord conveyor belt is damaged to the core layer, it may cause the core to be corroded by water and lose its proper strength. During the operation of the conveyor belt with poor strength, when the load suddenly increases, such as when the car is started with a load and the belt is stuck, it is very easy to cause the conveyor belt to break.
3. Conveyor belt deviation. When the damage levels on both sides along the center line of the conveyor belt are different, the elongation ratio on both sides often changes, which directly leads to the deviation of the conveyor belt during operation.
